CTF calls for disclosure of contract & business plan
Details of deal withheld from Taxpayers Federation information request

WINNIPEG: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) released a freedom of information response from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) today that shows it has contracted with "HealthPro", an Ontario-based product purchasing company to help manage its purchasing needs.

The CTF filed a freedom of information request to obtain a copy of the contract, but was refused access to the information. As a result, the CTF is calling for the release of the business plan behind the decision to contract with HealthPro and the contract itself.

“The decision to work with the Ontario firm could turn out to be a good deal for taxpayers or it could turn out to be just another purchasing bureaucracy,” said CTF Manitoba director Colin Craig. “At this point it's impossible to judge because the WRHA won't release the contract. Taxpayers foot the bill for the WRHA's budget, so they have every right to see the details.”
